    Job description & requirements

    What you'll do


    In your new role, you’ll engineer and maintain innovative, customer centric, high performance, secure and robust data science solutions. You’ll be working within a feature team and using your extensive experience to engineer software, scripts and tools that are often complex, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.

    You’ll be proactively bringing together statistical, mathematical, machine learning and software engineering skills to consider multiple solutions, techniques, and algorithms.

    In addition, you’ll be:

    • Working with stakeholders to understand their complex requirements and needs of the business, form hypotheses and identify suitable statistical models to meet those needs
    • Working in permanent teams who are responsible for the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
    • Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capability
    • Selecting, building, training, and testing complex machine models, considering model valuation, model risk, governance, and ethics throughout to implement and scale models
    • Designing, producing, testing and implementing our working code
    • Working across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations


    The skills you'll need


    You’ll need at least eight years of experience in statistical modelling, software engineering, software design, architecture, and an understanding of how your area of expertise supports our customers.

    You’ll also need:

    • Experience of using statistical software, database languages and big data technologies
    • Experience in Python, building machine learning and statistical models
    • Understanding to statistical techniques like linear regression, logistic regression, random forest, time series and K Means
    • Experience in Azure Cloud technology
    • Experience of turning business requirements into a statistical modelling solution
