Job overview and responsibilities

The Manager for Business Intelligence will play a critical role in ensuring safety is at the core of everything we do at United. Our team is integral for ensuring a safe workplace for our employees and travel experience for our customers. This role is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a cohesive safety data strategy growing United's Safety Data Management programs. This includes data engineering to ontologize a scalable data pipeline, by creating and maintaining highly integrated corporate safety data sources, identifying opportunities for prescriptive and predictive use cases, developing key safety metrics thorough data analysis, providing actionable data driven insights, and building out comprehensive business intelligence tools and dashboards. With the objective of reducing safety risk and improving our safety culture. This position will lead and coordinate with a team of data managers and subject matter experts from across the enterprise. This position will work closely with Digital Technology teams to leverage the latest in Data Science, focusing on transformations and data analytics improvements

1. Develop and implement predictive/prescriptive data business intelligence for Safety Data Management and streamlining processes
2. Collaborate with Digital Technology and Operational teams to analyze, predict and reduce safety risks and provide measurable solutions
3. Partner with Digital Technology team to develop streamlined and comprehensive data analytics workstreams
4. Support United’s Safety Management System with predictive data analytics by designing and development of statistical models
5. Manages and maintains project portfolio for the SMS data team
6. Areas of focus will include, but are not limited to:
7. Predictive and prescriptive analytics
8. Data Visualizations
9. Modeling and coding of data
10. Reporting and automation
11. Consulting with data customers
12. Build data products including dashboards and mobile reporting products to support corporate safety leadership that helps them make data driven decisions
13. Build and maintain the "single source of truth" for United's Corporate Safety data and ensure data integrity through robust governance process by running a cadence check
14. Communicate and share updates with US and India based senior leadership, along with experience putting together product presentations
15. Define, prioritize, allocate resources, track and provide status reporting of work assignments, projects, programs
16. Coach and cultivate team at our local India Knowledge Center Location

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

1. Bachelor's degree
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information sytems, engineering, or another quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, statistics, economics, etc.)
3. At least 6 years experience in business intelligence, analytics, and/or data engineering
4. At least 1 year experience in a leadership/supervisory role preferred
5. Expert level SQL skills
6. Experience with Foundry/Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and hands-on experience working with massive data sets
7. Intermediate to expert level BI dashboarding experience (e.g. Power BI, Tibco Spotfire, etc...) to produce meaningful, elegant dashboards
8. Proficiency writing complex code using both traditional and modern technologies/languages (i.e. Python,HTML,Javascript,Power Automate, Spark Node, etc.) for queries, procedures, and final formatted reporting in an email format
9. Ability to study/understand business needs, then design a data/technology solutions that connect business processes with quantifiable outcomes
10. Ability to prepare presentations for senior leadership and interact with all levels of management
11. Strong project management and communication skills

13. 3-4 years working with complex data (data analytics, information science, data visualization or other relevant quantitative field)
14. Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
15. Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
16. Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
17. Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
