Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of junior data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Set clear goals, monitor team performance, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with data science leads across Asia Pacific to understand their business requirements, translate them into actionable data science projects, and deliver solutions that address business needs.
- Communicate complex data science concepts and insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on goals and outcomes.
Project & Resource Management
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects, including scoping, planning, execution, and delivery.
- Allocate resources efficiently across multiple projects and prioritize initiatives based on business impact.
Technical Expertise & Collaboration
- Act as a technical expert, guiding the team in building and deploying advanced analytics, predictive models, and machine learning solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the data engineering team to ensure seamless integration of data pipelines, scalable infrastructure, and efficient workflows.
Innovation & Best Practices
- Drive the adoption of best practices in data science methodologies, coding standards, and model deployment strategies.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team remains ahead of the curve.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in data science, including 3+ years in a leadership or management role with proven track record of strong people and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven track record of delivering impactful data science projects in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed environment.
Technical Skills:
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data visualization tools.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
